Heather Gilbert, FNP Family Nurse Practitioner My name is Heather Gilbert. I am certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Prior to receiving my Masters in Nursing from Chamberlain University, I spent 15 years working as an Emergency Department Registered nurse within the Piedmont Healthcare System. In addition to working for GOMED, I am an Emergency Department nurse Practitioner at WellStar Spalding hospital. My life long passion has been to provide the very best care using a holistic approach to each patient that I encounter. Kimberly Glass, NP-C Nurse Practitioner · ASN- Gordon College (2010) · BSN- Gordon State College (2012) · FNP- Frontier Nursing University (2016) · Dean’s list all years at Gordon. · Member of the AANP Kimberly Glass is married with 2 young boys. She resides in Concord, Ga. She have experience in the ICU, women’s services, and primary care. She was introduced to GoMed by a colleague and had utilized these services for her children prior to becoming a member of the GoMed team. “I love the idea of providing care for people in the comfort of their own home. In fact, Frontier Nursing University was founded by a group of female nurse practitioners and midwives that traveled to the homes of their patient’s in mountains of Eastern Kentucky to provide care. During my time at FNU, we were introduced to the benefits of this model of care and I am so thankful that GoMed offers this to the community.” – Kimberly Glass |
Amy Watkiss, FNP Nurse Practitioner Amy Watkiss is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She began her career as a registered nurse in 1999 after obtaining her BSN from Mercer University. Wanting to expand her knowledge and focus on the holistic care of families, Amy pursued a Masters of Science from the University of South Alabama earning her Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2008. At the University of South Alabama, not only was she a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the honor society for nursing, she also was awarded the “Excellence in Practice Award”. Amy has 10 years of experience working as a nurse practitioner in private practice family medicine. She is also a part time faculty member at the University of South Alabama in their Family Nurse Practitioner program.
Amy has always been a strong supporter of GoMed since inception and embraces the concept and model of treating patients in their homes. Patients are more at ease (especially the children) in their own home, and not exposed to additional germs found at a regular doctor’s office or urgent care. Amy is very excited to join the GoMed team and looks forward to taking care of you and your family.
During her spare time, she loves spending time at the lake with her husband, two sons. You will often find her and her husband Geoff, swimming, biking, and running as they train for road races and triathlons. |
Chris Pitts, PA-C Founder/President of Clinical Services Physician Assistant Chris grew up in Cochran, Georgia and attended Middle Georgia College. He then moved on to the Respiratory Therapy program at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta where he graduated with honors. In Macon as an RRT he became a neonatal pediatric specialist. Following this, he returned to the Medical College of Georgia where he completed the Physician Assistant Program, graduating Summa Cum Laude. During his career he has worked in pulmonary critical care, cardiology, pediatrics and spinal orthopedics. In 2006, he began his work in emergency departments and has been there ever since. |
Chris Edens , MD Chief Medical Officer Physician Dr. Edens was born in Virginia and moved to Georgia in 1974. He attended the University of Georgia for undergraduate work and then moved onto the Mercer School of Medicine. After school, he did his Emergency Medicine Residency at Emory from 1995-98. Dr. Edens has trained at Emory Hospital, Grady Hospital, Emory Midtown Hospital, Egleston Children’s Hospital, and Hughes Spalding Childrren’s Hospital. He has served as the medical director for several hospitals around Georgia and is currently on staff at Piedmont Healthcare. He is also the track physician for Atlanta Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta. |

Amanda Absher-PA-C Physician Assistant Hi, I’m Amanda Absher and I’m excited to be starting on a new venture with the GOMED team! I am a Physician Assistant with 8 years of experience in Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care. Originally from East Tennessee, I went to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for undergrad and then attended PA school at MUSC several years later. I fell in love with the city of Charleston during PA school, and a few years after graduation I jumped at the opportunity to move back to Charleston and make my home here. When I am not working, I enjoy yoga, college football, spending time outdoors, and traveling to new destinations. I am happy to be providing patient-centered care in the Charleston community that comes directly to you! |

Kelli Shilts-PAC Physician Assistant Undergraduate school- Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology with a Minor in Spanish in 2012 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Graduate school- Graduate of Distinction from Des Moines University in 2014 with a Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Bio: My name is Kelli and I have been a PA for 5 years and a Charleston resident for almost 3 years now. My husband and I moved from Illinois to escape winter and are loving it down here so far. We have a golden retriever pup and love taking him to the beach to play and swim! I had been working in Emergency Medicine for 4.5 years before I discovered GOMED. The concept of bringing healthcare to the patients intrigued me and led to me joining GOMED Charleston at its inception this year. So far it has been a very fulfilling experience that has allowed me to become more involved in our community. I look forward to continuing to meet new families and bring them the quality care they deserve at their convenience.

Colene Watkins-PAC Physician Assistant Colene grew up in farm country near Council Bluffs, Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa for her under graduate studies and graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center Physician Assistant Program. She is board certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants, which requires 100 hours of CME every 2 years and taking a boards exam every 10 years. She has practiced in family medicine and integrated physical medicine. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in time for the summer Olympics in 1996. She married a southerner and they have lived in the Charleston area for 7 years. Colene states she loves the great weather, beaches and southern hospitality. She and her husband rescue special needs dogs and enjoy traveling and outdoor activities. |
